Fresh release!

Just announced + we're so excited!

Committed to the environmental cause since the 1990s, Quebec based, internationally recognized, artist Isabelle Hayeur observes and documents with a critical eye the transformation of our ecosystem and the devastating impact of urbanization and industrialization on our land.

Her topics of investigation are the land, housing and water, images of which she manipulates digitally in various fashions in such a way as to raise doubts about the veracity of the landscapes depicted. The strategies she employs seek to make us think about the way in which we perceive and conceive our own surroundings.

She is brilliant - you need this book.

Matt Williams - Two Rivers

Two Rivers is both a ghost story and a road trip—it traverses decades and dimensions, waterways and highways, real and imagined. Matt Williams set out to recreate his dreams and memories while on a road trip across the country from Halifax to Vancouver, using black and white, medium format and 35mm film.

Why we LOVE this?!

We featured a preview of this book in our Black & White issue - but now that the book is out, we're excited to share the full story!

This debut edition is a testament to creative craftsmanship. Alongside the carefully composed visuals, poetry takes the story further. Pushing the creative process further still, each copy of this premier edition is hand-painted, AND the piece has it's own musical score! Yeah. It's next level, and you'll love every part of this.

  • First edition of 250, published November 2020 by Axis Mundi Press

  • Cover design hand-painted on St. Armand canal paper (made largely from recycled cotton fabric).

  • Essay written by Newfoundland-based writer and musician Kate Lahey.

  • Download code for the Two Rivers score written by violinist Laura C. Bates

  • 9x9 inches, 80 pages, 62 plates, printed offset.

Bathers, by Toronto-based photographer Ruth Kaplan, explores the social theatre of communal bathing.

Ruth Kaplan’s journey began in the nudist hot springs of California in 1991. She then followed her curiosity to Eastern Europe, seeking a more traditional form of the practice in the spa towns of the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary and Romania. She traveled to high-tech spas in Germany, France, Italy and Denmark, completing the series in 2002 in Moroccan hamams and Icelandic hot springs. Hedonism, sensuality, innocence and social bonding are just some of the underlying themes that emerged in the form of striking, tender, dream-like images.

112 pages, 9.75" X 12," featuring 70 stunningly beautiful photographs printed in duotone.

With essays by Marni Jackson and Larry Fink. $65. CDN. Get your copy HERE.

Photographer Caitlin Cronenberg and art director Jessica Ennis collected stories of heartbreak, relationship endings, and new beginnings—fictional but often inspired by real-life—and set out to convey the raw emotions that are exposed in those most vulnerable of states.

Collaborating with celebrities, they developed each character, built her world, and then photographed as she lived the role before the camera. The resulting collection is a bold look at the experience of losing or leaving love and will speak to anyone who appreciates art, photography, and the strength of facing emotional depths head-on.

Featured talent in the book includes: - Julianne Moore - Keira Knightley - Gugu Mbatha-Raw - Sofia Boutella - Nina Dobrev - Tessa Thompson—and many more!
